About Daya Dorado

Raised in Texas in a Mexican household, Daya Dorado’s take on Country music is a fusion of those two cultures. Her self-proclaimed “Tex-Mex Country” combines classic Texan Country music with Norteño Mexican rhythms to create a music of resistance and storytelling.

Awarded the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) Artist Grant in 2023, as well as Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country Artist Grant in 2021, Daya has been able to push forward in her artistic journey to represent Latina women in Country music in a way that is genuine and true to who she is.

Her influences include Linda Ronstadt, Joan Sebastian, Freddy Fender, Ju Gabriel, George Strait, Bee Gees, and Selena. Her songwriting, both in Spanish and English, reflects her trials in love and life, as well as stories of her community. Her signature accordi playing is symbolic of her Norteño Mexican roots.
